Once again, a bear came up to the front door, but this time I had my camera ready. Unfortunately, my memory card was almost full... I did manage, however, to take two pics and a short video.

Here are some pics from my birthday dinner at one of the Mexican restaurants here. They made me wear a sombrero and then sang a Mexican birthday song....

The following pictures are showing Mike Martin and me looking for snow. Our quest this year is to ski every single month in the state of Colorado. For July and August we went to Breckenridge first and then to St.Mary's glacier. The hiking wasn't as bad this time and the skiing was OK considering it's July/August...

Last night we heard something up in the garage and sure enough, it was a bear eating our trash. We chased it away, but the trash was everywhere. The bear hung out for a while in our neighbour's backyard. You can kinda see it. I didn't want to get too close for a picture...
Gestern hat uns mal wieder ein Baer besucht und unseren Abfall gegessen. Wir haben ihn dann verscheucht und dann hat er es sich erstmal beim Nachbarn bequem gemacht. Man kann ihn ein wenig sehen im Foto, aber ich wollte nicht zu nahe ran gehen...




Heute morgen war die Aussicht vom Haus richtig schoen.

Also, ich bin wieder in Steamboat angekommen. Es war schon sehr cool endlich wieder Berge zu sehen und ohne Aircondition Auto zu fahren... Mich hat dann auch prombt ein Freund angerufen und mich gefragt ob ich skifahren gehen will. Ich war schon ein wenig ueberrascht, weil weit und breit kein Schnee zu sehen war. Jedenfalls haben wir uns dann gestern morgen auf den Weg gemacht und sind etwa eine halbe Stunde Richtung Norden gefahren. Erst mussten wir etwa 3 Stunden mit Skiern, Boots usw. bis zum Ende des Tals gehen und dann nocheinmal 1,5 Stunden mit den Faellen hoch. Der Schnee war ueberraschend gut (fuer Juni...), aber die eigentliche Abfahrt ziemlich kurz. Die drei Stunden zurueck zum Auto ware extrem hart, ich war echt selten so am Ende. Dazu kommt ja auch noch, dass ich eine Weile in Texas war und die Hoehe mich ganz schoen fertig gemacht hat.

I'm back in Colorado. It's nice to be back in the mountains and to drive without A/C... Anyway, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go skiing yesterday and, of course, I didn't say no. We had to hike for about 4,5 hours with our skis, boots etc. on our backs until we found some snow. Coming from Texas the altitude really kicked my butt big time! Hiking for almost 8 hours total up to 11.000 feet with a heavy backpack is a little harder than running laps at Churchill... Here are some pictures from my day yesterday:

Heute bin ich etwas fertig, nach 850km. Also nur ein kurzer Text aber viele Bilder. Die größte Überraschung war wohl Santa Fe, NM. Ein sehr cooler kleiner Ort mit eigenwilliger Architektur und einer katholischen Basilika, die Franz von Asissi gewidmet ist...

I´m really exhausted, which means little text and many pics. I drove around 530miles today... The coolest place was definetely Santa Fe, NM.





















Danach gings nach Taos, New Mexico, einem Skiort im Winter. Ganz in der Nähe habe ich an einer Schlucht angehalten und deutsche Touristen getroffen.

Also, die erste Teilstrecke zurück nach Colorado ist geschafft. Es waren etwa 8 Stunden zur Alien Hauptstadt Amerikas: Roswell, NM. Hier bleib ich heute Nacht und fahr morgen dann weiter. Hier ein paar Bilder von der heissen Fahrt durch West-Texas (44Grad).

My time in San Antonio has come to an end. I had a great time and met many amazing people! Thanks again Jerry for having me!
